4th of July Trivia and Games

Celebrate America and its heritage by hosting a fun and festive Independence Day party or get-together for family and friends. To maximize the fun quotient of the party, arrange for games with Independence Day themes for kids and adults alike. Here are a few suggestions for you to use and improvise on.

To keep everybody interested, especially the kids, you can make the get-together more enjoyable by playing different games. Here are some games that even adults are sure to enjoy.

• Arrange for things related to colors in the flag, like balls, toys that are colored blue, red, and white.
• Mark a circle, and keep these items in this circle.
• See that the number of items is one less than the number of participants.
• Play the music and ask the participants to move around the circle.

• Each participant should grab an item when the music stops.
• The one who is unable to grab anything is out of the game.
• Continue till all the items are over.
• The one who grabs the last item will be the winner.

• Prepare two teams from the available participants.
• Collect or prepare two sets of things for the two teams, related to 4th of July. You can use symbols of national importance like, the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty bell, the Bald Eagle, Rose, pictures of the Founding Fathers, and the American flag.

• Arrange these things at different locations.
• You can use the questions related to the things mentioned earlier as clues for reaching the hidden items.
• Keep the American flag as the last item to be found.
• The team which reaches the flag first wins the game.

• Arrange for a rope and tie blue, red, and white streamers to the center of the rope. Alternatively, make a rope that is red, blue, and white in color.
• Divide the participants into two teams.
• Mark a straight line on the ground.

• Draw two parallel lines to this line at a distance of 15 feet.
• Ask the two teams to hold the rope and stand outside those parallel lines, opposite each other.
• Use a whistle to indicate the start of game.
• While pulling the rope, the team that crosses its respective parallel line, loses the game.

• A Fourth of July version of the popular "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" involves pinning a hat on Uncle Sam.
• Search online, for an image of Uncle Sam and take multiple prints while cutting out the hat portion for kids or adults to pin.
• Blindfold the participants and watch the fun as young and old try to pin a hat on Uncle Sam.

As always, this most American of holidays will be marked by backyard barbecues, parades and of course fireworks across the country.
