While being involved in the Christmas decorations, you might not get enough time to plan out the dinner menu, so, here are a few ideas that you can use to make this day special.

Starter: Braised Wild Mushrooms and Peas


Ingredients
  • White mushrooms, 2 cups (sliced)
  • Oyster mushrooms, 2 cups (sliced)
  • Shiitake mushrooms, 2 cups (sliced)
  • Water, ½ cup
  • Butter, 2 tbsp.
  • Green onions, 4
  • Frozen peas, 2 cups
  • Soy sauce, 1 tbsp.
  • Salt and pepper
Method

In a large skillet, add butter and cook the mushrooms until they turn slight brown in color, for about 10 minutes. Now, chop the white and green portion of the green onions and add it to the mixture in the skillet. Add peas as well.
Stir continuously and allow the mixture to boil. Lastly, add soy sauce, salt, and pepper for taste, and take the skillet off the flame. Top with butter and serve the mixture with chopped green onions.

Side Dish: Creamy Potato Gratin


Ingredients
  • Garlic, 3 cloves
  • Butter, 3 tbsp.
  • Potatoes, 3 lb. (unpeeled)
  • Milk, 3 cups
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh nutmeg, ⅛ tsp. (grated)
Method

Take a ceramic baking dish and rub a cut garlic piece onto the inner surface. Take butter and do the same. Keep the dish in a preheated oven at 425°F. Meanwhile, take a large skillet, add milk, remaining garlic, potato slices, and bring the mixture to a boil.
Next, add nutmeg powder, salt, and pepper and let the mixture simmer for sometime. Now transfer this mixture to the baking dish and top it with butter pieces. Bake the mixture for about 30 minutes so that the top layer appears slight golden brownish and the potatoes are tender and cooked properly.

Main Course: Turkey and Cornbread Stuffing with Sun Dried Tomatoes


Ingredients
  • Butter, ¼ cup
  • Celery, 2 stalks (chopped)
  • Medium onion, 1 (chopped)
  • Poultry seasoning, ½ tsp.
  • Sun-dried tomatoes, ½ cup (chopped)
  • Almonds, ½ cup (toasted)
  • Vegetable oil
  • Turkey, 12 lb.
  • Cornbread stuffing cans
  • Chicken broth, ¾ cup
Method

In a sauce pan, heat butter until it melts. Add celery, onions and cook until the onions turn brownish. Pour in the chicken broth next, along with the tomatoes and the poultry seasoning. Bring the mixture to boil to make a thicker consistency after which take it off the flame.
Next, you need to prepare the turkey. Take the turkey and remove the neck and giblets from the cavity. Wash it properly with cold water and then stuff the mixture and tie the drumstick ends together. Now, coat the turkey with oil using a brush and then keep it for roasting at 325°F for approximately 4 hours, until it appears brown and smells perfect.

Dessert: Nutty Maple Walnut Tartlets


Ingredients
  • Unbaked tart shells (according to the number of people)
  • Large eggs, 3
  • Maple syrup, 1 cup
  • Brown sugar, ½ cup
  • Margarine, 2 tbsp.
  • Vanilla, 1 tsp.
  • Lemon juice, 1 tsp.
  • Walnuts, 1 cup (coarsely chopped)
Method

In a large bowl, add eggs, maple syrup, sugar, margarine, vanilla, lemon juice, and blend the mixture well. Take the tart shells and sprinkle walnut powder in each of them.
Later, pour the mixture into each shell and spread evenly. Bake the tarts in the oven for 30 minutes until they appear crispy and golden in color. Keep them in refrigerator before serving.
