Thanksgiving Songs

Governor Bradford may not have known the true extent of his Thanksgiving proclamation in 1623. He, along with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, set forth one of the best American traditions to date: Thanksgiving Day. And with every holiday, come holiday songs. So pick up as many songs you can from the following lists and have a great Thanksgiving party!

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Ever since it was aired in 1973, 'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' has been a Thanksgiving tradition. It has the prime time spot on ABC every November and its theme song is played by every radio at least once.

Alice's Restaurant
- Arlo Guthrie

This song is always the first one that comes to mind when you think about Thanksgiving. The track is 18 minutes and 34 seconds long and is usually played by the radios only on Thanksgiving. There are many versions of this song, the two most prominent ones being the original and Arlo's re-recording of it in 1995.

Indescribable
- Chris Tomlin

Another great addition to the Thanksgiving playlist this song by Chris Tomlin. Widely considered as his masterpiece, Indescribable praises God and thanks Him for everything.

Kind And Generous
- Natalie Merchant

Natalie did mention that she made this song with Jesus in mind. You can sing it to or even dance with that special someone in your life. It's the perfect song for when you don't have any words to tell someone just how grateful you are to be with them.

Thank You
- Led Zeppelin

'Thank You' is an absolutely beautiful song, made even more special due to the fact that Led Zeppelin usually doesn't do songs like this. The lyrics were written by Robert Plant alone, for his wife Maureen. Page helped perfect the song by playing an all-acoustic guitar solo. It gives the song a very earthly and joyous feeling.

Thank You For The Music
- ABBA

This song is, quite literally, a song that makes you feel thankful that there are songs! Agnetha Fältskog sings it like she means every single word in it, and we in turn are thankful to her for giving us this great track.

Thanksgiving Song

It's a Thanksgiving song about being thankful for Thanksgiving. You can't get more festive than that! Play it when everyone is at the dinner table, talking and laughing, while constantly staring at the turkey and drooling.

It is the classic song to play if you're looking for some family grooving time. Sister Sledge isn't known for their other songs, at least not as much as this one. But it does make for some funky bonding music!

What a Wonderful World

You can't sing with a holiday spirit if you don't believe in all the good things in the world. That's what this song is about - kindness, care, love and optimism. This song is actually perfect for any huge holiday, because the song is perfect.
